EN15AM Carbon Steel
Grade Introduction:
Carbon steels contain carbon as the key alloying element. They are designated by AISI four-digit numbers, and contain 0.4% of silicon and 1.2% of manganese. Molybdenum, chromium, nickel, copper, and aluminum are present in small quantities.
Impurities such as sulfur and phosphorous may also be found in these steels. High machinability, used in automatic and CNC machines in mass production of components like Engine Shafts, Connecting components like Engine Shafts, Connecting rods, Spindles etc.
Grade Application
EN15AM is widely used for many general engineering applications. Typical applications include shafts, studs, bolts, connecting rods, screws, rollers.

- The main mechanical properties are elasticity, plasticity, stiffness, aging sensitivity, strength, hardness, impact toughness, fatigue strength and fracture toughness.
- Elasticity: Metal material deforms when it is subjected to external force. When the external force is removed, it can restore its original shape.
- Plasticity: The ability of B.S. En15AM BS 970 to produce permanent deformation without causing damage under external forces.
- Stiffness: The ability of B.S. En15AM BS 970 to resist elastic deformation under stress.
- Strength: The ability of B.S. En15AM BS 970 to resist deformation and fracture under external forces.
- Hardness: The ability of B.S. En15AM BS 970 to resist the pressure of a harder object into it.
- Impact toughness: The ability of B.S. En15AM BS 970 to resist fracture under impact loading.
- Fatigue strength: The maximum stress that does not cause fracture when B.S. En15AM BS 970 is subjected to numerous repeated or alternating loads.
