Die Block Steel DB1
Protect the steel and heat through to 890°C (1630°F). Then cool in the furnace at 20°C (40°F) per hour to 850°C (1560°f), then at 10°C (20°F) per hour to 700°C (1290°F), then freely in air. After rough machining the tool should be heated through to 650°C (1200°F), holding time 2 hours. Cool slowly to 500°C (930°F), then freely in air.Preheating temperature: 600-850°C (1110-1560°F) .Austenitizing temperature: 1020-1050°C (1870-920°F), but usually 1020°C-1030°C (1870-1885°F).
Die Block Steel DB2
There are three prime requirements for a Die Block:
That is readily machineable.
That it will resist stresses imposed in service without fracture.
That it will produce the required number of forgings without losing shape and at the lowest cost.
Most dies used by the drop forging industry are supplied in the pre-hardened condition and must be readily machinable at high hardness levels. Very low sulphur contents make machining extremely difficult. Those steels normally supplied hardened are therefore manufactured with controlled sulphur content of .010 to .030%.Die blocks are subjected to triaxial stresses and uniformity of mechanical properties is a desirable condition.Press forging demands a die steel with good wear resistance that can withstand the massive compressive stresses and produce forgings to close tolerances. Hammer forging on the other hand requires a predominantly tough die steel, with wear resistance usually the secondary consideration.
Die Block Steel DB6
DB6 is highly recommendable for Close Die Forgings due to its characteristics of high wear-resistance, extra toughness , high hardness which is achieved with Cr-Ni-Mo-V high graded alloys. The equivalent grade DB6 / L6 / SKT4 normally used as a pre hardened condition. The standard hardness is 360 to 430 BHN. DIN 2714 is the upgraded version of DIN 2713 for better performance of dies.
Die Block Steel DIN1.2714
with good hardenability and abrasion resistance.with high oxidation resistance, good corrosion protection after quenching and polishing and little deformation through heat treatment Used to manufacture different kinds of cold work moulds with high accuracy and long service life, cutting tools and measuring instruments. Such as complex-shaped piercing dies, threading screw plates, cold-extruding dies, cold-cutting scissors, precision measuring tools,
